Oh we do like to be beside the seaside …

So the great Skegness exhibition weekend has come and gone for another year. As the roads across Nottinghamshire improve the journey gets easier – I love the new dual carriageway from Bingham to Newark – but the trek across much of Lincolnshire remains a leisurely pursuit.

But once in the Embassy Centre at Skegness? All is well. Familiar faces, old friends and new, people from as far afield as France, Germany, Holland, Israel and South Africa joined the great Meccano show that is Skegex.

Giant models of canes and bridges jostled for space alongside miniature gems of construction. Imagine fitting a limited slip differential into a 1.5″ cube!

Everyone had a tale to tell of their journey – one of our senior members was, for a while,  unable to leave his house near Nottingham because a localised deluge meant a river was running past his gate!  But all this was forgotten for three days of metallic indulgence. Good conversations, lots of photographs and great memories. You can check out our report at http://www.skegex.nmmg.org.uk and a few photos here as well.
